Good Evening! I hope that our kids were able to rest and re-energize over Spring Break as there are many events that are embedded in the last 2 months of school! As a reminder- MCS will be in school tomorrow, April 8th. As you are aware- a solar eclipse will be passing through our area tomorrow afternoon. The time of the event will be near the end of the school day and beyond. Eye Care Associates has donated special glasses for all of our students and staff for the event.
Please see the link below to see information regarding these glasses:
https://www.mariettacityschools.k12.oh.us/article/1534270
For MHS-
1. Glasses will be distributed during 8th period
2. If your student is planning on leaving prior to 8th period, please have them stop by the office to receive a pair!
3. These glasses are not intended to be worn during driving or other activities- only should be worn when looking directly at the sun.
Thank You
Marietta High School Administration

Tigers,
In addition to the Safety and Information document we’ve shared with you earlier in the week, we wanted to clarify a few things regarding what will be happening on Monday, April 8, 2024 due to the solar eclipse.
While our district will be having a normal day of instruction, we understand that there will be families that want to enjoy this historic event with their children. Any student who is missing school on Monday to view the eclipse with their family will be considered an excused absence. This will still require the parent to call in and report the absence with the school that their child attends.
For students who will be attending school that day, each building within the district will have their own plan for how the eclipse will fit in their daily instruction and how it will affect dismissal. Each building will share specifics directly to staff and parents this weekend. Questions or concerns about these plans should be directed to the building administration, not your students' teachers.
Thank you,
Brad Silvus, Superintendent

Good morning all,
MHS will be canceling all Athletic practices, games and events today as a precautionary measure with today's impending storms.
Thank you and please be safe!

Tigers,
I wanted to share information regarding Marietta City School District’s plan for the upcoming solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th. After much discussion between myself, our Board of Education members and neighboring districts within the county, we have decided that all 4 of our buildings in the district will be having a normal day of instruction on April 8th. Our board has established a clear expectation that minimizing our time out of the classroom is what is best for our students. This decision we feel will allow our students to have a minimally interrupted day of learning, and still witness this event alongside their peers and educators. Thanks to a generous donation from Eye Care Associates in Marietta, all of our students will have protective eyewear in order to view the historic eclipse. Since student safety is our number one priority, we will be distributing materials to our staff and students with instructions on how to make use of these glasses to safely enjoy the eclipse. We will also disseminate other safety and informational resources we’ve found from outside our organization to educators, students and families in the district. We are excited to share in this historic event with our staff and students. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out by emailing me at bsilvus@mariettacsdoh.org
Thank you and Go Tigers!
Brad Silvus, Superintendent for Marietta City School District

ATTENTION!
Any student considering CCP classes next year (at MHS or WSCC or MC) must return the intent to participate form to guidance by April 1. (This is required by the Ohio Department of Education.)

The Marietta High School water main repairs began early this morning, Friday, March 8, 2024 and were concluded by the middle of the afternoon. We were fortunate enough yesterday to have been able to pinpoint the area in which the water line had ruptured. This allowed us to minimize digging and the size of the area that would need to be refilled and paved.
We had to remove about a 10’ section of pipe that had a dollar bill sized hole with cracks spreading out in multiple directions. After replacing that section of pipe, the ditch was filled and the lines were slowly pressurized until we reached full water pressure. It is repaired and fully functional.
School will be back in session for MHS on Monday, March 11, 2024. We appreciate your patience in this matter.

Marietta High School has had a water main burst on Thursday, March 7, 2024 on the Colegate side of the building that will require immediate repairs. As a result of this situation MHS will not be in session on Friday, March 8, 2024. Please note that this will only affect Marietta High School, all of our other buildings are unaffected and will be on their normal schedule.
Please note that students with WSCC Friday Labs should still report to WSCC.
We will keep you informed of progress of the repairs over the weekend. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Parents- Recently, Marietta High School has seen an increase in behaviors with cell phones and disruptions of the educational process in our restrooms. To combat these issues along with backpacks at the younger ages, we wanted to communicate with our parents some updated procedures to create an atmosphere that is conducive to what we are trying to accomplish at MHS. We ask that our parents sit down and have conversations on the items listed in this document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1v04la_11Om2671Zmj_VXwscg9m3oSd3XeEwrK57ItWg/edit?usp=sharing
