Just wanted to post an update that our calendar at the bottom of our website was showing January 16 as a Professional Development day. That was incorrect and has been fixed to the correct date. There will be a professional development day on February 16, but January 16 will just be a normal day for students and faculty. We apologize for any confusion.

Dear Marietta City Schools Students, Parents and Faculty, Over the weekend there were threats of violence made towards a number of schools across the state of Ohio. Let me first assure you all that none of Marietta City Schools’ buildings were included in these threats. Regardless of that fact, we have been working with local law enforcement to ensure that our schools remain as safe as possible for our students and staff. In addition to our efforts, the Ohio School Safety Center is aware of the threats made to schools across Ohio and is working with the Statewide Terrorism Analysis and Crime Center, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, law enforcement agencies and schools to properly investigate these threats. These threats are similar to others that have recently been made in other states. It’s important for us to reiterate that Marietta City School District HAS NOT received any online threat but that we still take these matters extremely seriously. Which is why we’d like to remind you all of the ways you can report potential dangers or safety concerns so that we can continue to keep Marietta City Schools as safe as possible. • Contact the school principal or district superintendent by email or phone • Call the local authorities such as Marietta City Police or Washington County Sherriff’s Office • Call or text the statewide tip line at 844-723-3764. This is an anonymous tip line that anyone can use to report anything that is concerning or dangerous to you, your friends or school. Don’t be afraid to speak up if you see or hear something! If you have any concerns about the schools safety don’t hesitate to reach out to Superintendent Brad Silvus at bsilvus@mariettacsdoh.org or by calling 740-374-6500 ext.8013, or you may contact School Resource Officer Robert Sury at rsury@mariettacsdoh.org.
