While students were off enjoying  summer break, Marietta staff were hard at work in preparation for the upcoming school year.  From small window replacements to installing new parking lots, each improved the integrity of our schools and help better the facilities for students and parents.

Beginning with Washington school, the gymnasium windows have been tinted, and partitions have been built for the bathroom, ensuring privacy for all students.

Phillips school also built new partitions for bathrooms and installed self-flushing toilets. There are also new lockers that were installed at Phillips school which helped to comply with a fire safety issue discovered last year.

At Marietta Elementary School, some outside renovations have been done which include resurfacing the track and building a new overflow parking lot behind the playground. This will help expand parking options during pick up and drop off during school. Inside the building, some changes made around the elementary school include new lockers for third graders, new flooring in five classrooms, a complete renovation of the old home economics rooms, new paint and plaster for several stairwells, and windows replaced around the school. This was without a doubt the building that received the most attention over summer.

At the high school, flooring upgrades were completed, twenty-three classrooms and the main office received fresh coats of paint, and the parking lot was repainted in preparation for this year’s transportation changes.

Concluding the changes made throughout the summer, the bus garage renovated much of the office space and added a large slab of concrete in the parking lot area.

These renovations around Marietta City Schools will benefit students in ensuring a safe and stable learning environment while also offering parents improved transportation systems and updated facilities. We are so grateful to our staff who were able to complete most of this work in house this summer, their hard work and dedication will benefit our entire district this year!
