Marietta, OH — The Marietta High School Choir Program continues to set a standard of excellence, earning top honors at both the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) State Large Group Event and a prestigious Chicago Heritage Festival in Chicago, Illinois.
On April 16, the choirs traveled to Chicago, where Cantabile, Bass, and Treble Choirs each earned Gold First Place honors at a national-level choral competition. In addition, both Cantabile and Bass Choirs received the distinguished Adjudicator’s Award for exceptional performance and quality. Cantabile Choir was further recognized as the Overall Best Choir, the highest honor awarded at the event. Below is a list of

All three choirs received an invitation to the Festival of Gold at Carnegie Hall.
At this year’s OMEA State Large Group Event, all three Marietta High School choirs delivered outstanding performances:
Treble Chorus (Class B): Superior Rating, with two superior and one excellent rating on stage, and an excellent in sight-reading
Bass Chorus (Class B): Superior Rating, with two superior and one excellent rating on stage, and a superior in sight-reading
Cantabile Choir (Class A): Superior Rating, earning straight superior ratings on stage and in sight-reading
This achievement marks the third consecutive year that all three choirs have received Superior ratings at the state level, an accomplishment that highlights the program’s consistency and commitment to musical excellence.
Under the direction of Mr. Scott Rieder, who leads multiple vocal ensembles including Mixed Choir, Vocal Point, and Handbells, students have continuously demonstrated a remarkable level of dedication, artistry, and collaboration throughout their performances.
