Marietta, OH — COSI, in partnership with AT&T, will distribute 250 COSI Connects American Innovation Kits to students at Marietta Elementary on December 12, 2025 with festivities beginning at 10:30 a.m. The event will take place at Marietta Elementary School.

Marietta was selected for this distribution through the support of AT&T, the official funder of the kits. Sarah Briggs, who oversees multiple regions in Ohio for AT&T, identified Marietta as an ideal community for the program due to her strong local relationships and the school’s commitment to providing engaging enrichment opportunities for students.

The kits are designed primarily for students in grades K–8 and especially suited for grades 3–6. They will be distributed to 5th and 6th grade students at Marietta Elementary School as part of COSI’s mission to bring engaging, hands-on STEM learning directly into communities.

The COSI Connects American Innovation Kit invites students to explore major U.S. innovations and discover how they themselves can be creators and problem-solvers. Each kit includes seven interactive activities:

  • Liberty’s Torch: Build a model torch while learning about the Statue of Liberty and the concept of freedom.

  • Inventors and Inventions: Explore the stories behind famous inventions, learn how patents work, and create an invention of your own.

  • Make a Prosthetic Hand: Design and improve a model prosthetic hand to spark engineering thinking.

  • Blast into Space: Learn about NASA’s past and future missions, then launch a model rocket.

  • The Power of Innovation: Discover how NASA uses solar energy in space and use solar panels to power a vibrating buzzer.

  • America the Beautiful: Learn about the natural wonders in America’s national parks and build a working model geyser.

  • Colors of Science: Celebrate innovators and role models by creating a portrait of someone who inspires you.

Marietta Elementary Principal Brittany Schob discussed how grateful she was to AT&T and COSI for this opportunity for her students. “Anytime we are able to provide additional enrichment opportunities on top of our core instruction we are thankful, particularly when we can further supplement an extremely important subject area like STEM.”

The event will open with remarks from Principal Schob, followed by brief comments from AT&T. A COSI educator will then lead students through two dynamic, hands-on science experiments, giving them an exciting preview of what they can explore further with their kits.

This distribution is part of COSI’s ongoing effort to expand science engagement across Ohio by providing accessible, high-quality STEM resources to students and families.
