kindergarten students

Nearly 100 families have completed the first three steps of the kindergarten registration process for the 2023-24 school year. But at least 39 families have yet to return their registration packet and required documents.

If you missed the Kindergarten Registration Days at Washington and Phillips elementary schools in March, it’s time to return those documents to Central Office, 111 Academy Drive, Marietta.

“I know it seems pretty early to be thinking about next year for kindergarten,” K-2 Counselor Kim Cwynar notes. “But it’s pretty imperative that we do it at this time of year. It helps us know how many kids we’re going to have enrolled, how many teachers we will need for next year and to prepare so that we have adequate coverage and support for your children.”

Families who have completed preregistration at bit.ly/KindergartenStart23-34 and picked up a registration packet will need to return that packet and bring the following documents to Central Office between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. this week:

• Your child’s official birth certificate with stamped seal.

• Your child’s social security card.

• Your child’s immunization record.

• Divorce, separation or custody papers showing legal guardianship (if applicable).

• Two proofs of residency* in the school district to identify the physical address.

Valid documents include a utility bill, rental agreement, mortgage, lease, property tax bill, etc.

Note: A driver’s license is not valid proof of residency. Junk mail is also not valid proof of residency. *If you and your child do not have consistent housing we have additional support services available under the McKinney-Vento Grant.

It is not necessary to bring your child to Central Office to complete Step 3 of the Kindergarten Registration Process.
