Kindergarten Registration Process

1. Verify Eligibility

Marietta City Schools Board of Education requires each child to be 5 years old on or before August 1st of the current year to be eligible to enroll in kindergarten.

2. Complete registration packet

After you complete Step 1 above, Marietta City Schools will mail you a registration packet. Fill out this packet and gather the following documents:

• Your child’s official birth certificate with stamped seal.

• Your child’s social security card.

• Your child’s immunization record.

• Divorce, separation or custody papers showing legal guardianship (if applicable).

• Two proofs of residency* in the school district to identify physical address. 

Valid documents include: a utility bill, rental agreement, mortgage, lease, property tax bill, etc. Note: A driver’s license is not a valid proof of residency. Junk mail is also not valid proof of residency.

*If you and your child do not have consistent housing we have additional support services available under the McKinney-Vento Grant.

3. Attend Registration Day

Bring registration packet and required documents from Step 2 to a registration day at your child’s home school. During registration day, the school nurse will be available to discuss any special concerns including allergies, medical challenges or medications.

It is not necessary to bring your child to Kindergarten Registration Day.

Marietta City Schools Kindergarten Registration Days for the 2022-23 school year will be held between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the following dates:

4. Complete Kindergarten Readiness Assessment

Ohio state law requires that every child entering Kindergarten be assessed. 

Kindergarten teachers will administer the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment in August (English Language Arts portion only). Teachers will use the assessment information to create class lists and assist in meeting the individual needs of your child.
