Marietta City School District thanks our staff, families and students for working together throughout this school year to slow the spread of coronavirus.
We have reached the point where we believe it is prudent to lift the requirement for masks within our buildings, effective 3:30 p.m. today.
This decision is data-informed as we have continued to monitor local health information alongside quarantine and infection rates both in our schools and in the community. Our Board of Education and administrators have also weighed the benefits of reducing the impacts of masking upon in-person instruction and the success of each student.
This change in building policy does not lift the federal requirement for masks while riding the bus. All students and staff on our buses will continue to wear masks until we are otherwise directed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
However, classes Monday will not require students in our buildings to don a facial covering unless required by their parents or guardians.
If you would prefer your child continue to wear a mask, please communicate that expectation both with them and with your child’s teacher(s) by Monday via written notification or email.
