On June 12, 2012, the State Board of Education adopted Ohio's New Learning Standards for K-12 World Languages. The standards are comprised of a set of three independent standards documents which are aligned with Ohio's primary world language program articulations:
Kindergarten through 12th grade
6th through 12th grades; and
9th through 12th grades.
Marietta City Schools offers both Spanish and Chinese courses.
Chinese 1 is offered at Marietta Middle School and Marietta High School.
Chinese 2 is offered at Marietta High School. The classes use the workbook, "Learn Chinese with Me," series published by People's Education Press.
Chinese 3 will be added for the 2014-2015 school year.
We are fortunate to be involved in the visiting Chinese Teacher Program which assists the district with the selection of a teacher.
Spanish 1- 4 is offered at Marietta High School. Dual enrollment courses are offered through Washington State Community college. The classes use Realidades 2014 textbooks and online materials by Pearson.
