Dear Eighth Grade Parents/Guardians and Students:

It was a privilege to have spent two years with your child and I am looking forward to leading them during their final year at Marietta Middle School. I will continue to put all my efforts in helping them achieve success, not only in their education, but also in every aspect of their lives. As they prepare for eighth grade, there will be many opportunities in order to prepare them for their high school years. Our dedicated staff, committed parents, and splendid students all work together to make MMS an environment of continuous learning. I am looking forward to working with each and every single one of you!

Please follow up on Facebook and Twitter for updates this summer! Also, please check the Marietta City School webpage. http://www.mariettacityschools.k12.oh.us/ Facebook: Marietta MiddleSchoolMariettaOhio And Twitter: MMSMariettaOhio

Open House: As we have finished up the school year, we are already beginning to prepare for the 2018-2019 school year. The first day of school is scheduled for Wednesday, August 22nd! We are looking forward to having your child at MMS for their eighth grade experience where they will get to meet new people, learn from knowledgeable teachers, and experience many exciting opportunities. To begin the year, I would like to invite you to our 7th and 8th grade open house on Tuesday, August 21st at Marietta Middle School. Our doors will open at 6:00 p.m. At this time, students and their families will be able to meet their teachers and pick up their schedule for the school year.

Washington, D.C. Trip: Eighth grade is an exciting year for many different reasons: last year of middle school, scheduling for high school courses, semi-formal, and Washington D.C.!! We will be going on a three day, two night trip where the eighth graders will get to visit many sites within Washington D.C. and other historical sites along the way. Your child will be getting information at the beginning of school about Washington D.C. and when payments are due along with the finalized dates of the trip. Be looking for this information and mark your calendars for this great opportunity to see and learn about the history of our country.

School Shopping: School shopping is always an exciting time whether it be for clothes or school supplies. On the back of this letter there is a general list of supplies that your child will need to begin the school year. Other supplies will be discussed on orientation night. Along with school shopping is the adventure of shopping for school clothes. It is important to remember the dress code when going shopping for clothes. Some of our general guidelines are that both shoulders should be covered and the short/skirt length is finger tip.

We are looking forward to the upcoming school year and getting to work with everyone this year. At anytime if you have any questions, you can contact the school at (740) 374-6530 between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 pm..

Sincerely,

Brittany Schob, MMS Principal bschob@mariettacsdoh.org (740) 374-6530 ext. 3015

TDAP Information: It is important to make sure that your child gets their Tdap immunization and Meningitis shot because this is required for ALL seventh grade students before they start the school year. Summer time is a great time to get this taken care of before the last minute rush. Please make sure that you send your proof of immunization to the school.
